Has the use of the word ubiquity become ubiquitous? It seems that anytime we read about the internet somewhere near in the same article we will find word ubiquity or ubiquitous. Or has the internet become synonymous with ubiquity?
The point is that the internet is everywhere and has become, in large degree, the “everything” of the Digital Native. WWW does not mean the World Wide Web, as a matter of fact, when I asked my daughter what it meant, she said it means the World Wide WHATEVER! No Duh! Like where are you?
In the context of education, you can find access to the web in every classroom. Libraries have terminals that anyone can walk up to and surf the net. Just about anywhere you go has access to the web either through a kiosk or WiFi, except for your LOBBY!
Ok, I said it. The dead zone you see referred to on TV is really your banking lobby and the last place a Digital Native will think of as a place to access the internet. No doubt latte has trumped the lobby, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
Providing free internet access to your customers and Digital Natives can be a great outreach program. Cookies and pop (aka soda) could be set up in a New Century Modern Appointed space. You can name it the Internet “Free Zone” and re-define customer service. Provided in this space can be a kiosk for internet access, WiFi, cards that provide the link to your newly released Digital Native Banking App with games and financial information. You could even provide access to a customer service representative who can provide basic financial information or clinics on how to save for that first car.
Think of the possibilities of customer service, just like educators teach in our classrooms to our young students about life. Think of the possibilities!
