Movement Bank expands regional footprint to cater for underserved communities

The latest branch for the community bank will provide financial services for those in underserved communities.

The move marks the third launch within Movement Bank’s network of community-based branches.

As well as offering commercial lending enabling businesses to prosper, it will also offer everyday consumer financial services and a range of mortgage options to meet customer capabilities.

President of Movement Bank, David Rupp, said: "Our team knows the Randleman market well. In our discussions with local leaders, we were impressed with their plans for the future of Randleman, and we have an exciting vision about how we can work together to make the community even more special."

Vice president/executive market leader and branch manager, Wayne Rowe, added: "We are proud to launch a full-service commercial bank with a legacy rooted in service. Our commitment is to partner with a great community of people and play our part in the economic growth that is expected for Randleman.”

In 2021, Citizens Bank introduced Citizens Peace of Mind, a deposit feature that helps underserved communities avoid unexpected overdraft fees.

The feature, which was added to all Citizens checking accounts on October 1, 2021 allows customers who unexpectedly overdraw their accounts the ability to deposit or transfer funds to bring their account to a positive balance.

Meanwhile, the National Black Bank Foundation and JAM FINTOP Network teamed up last year to ensure communities of color can access capital and build wealth through a Black banking sector.

The partnership focuses on the adoption of technology by US community banks as well as form a Minority Despository Institution Innovation Committee (MDI).
